.’I have worked as an academic, an activist and a performer, exploring ideas about disability and about genetics. Three generations of my family are affected by restricted growth. The condition doesn’t usually prevent you doing things, but everyone stops to look at you. That’s not always easy to deal with. Short people usually use humour to turn the tables, and we often appear very confident and extrovert. I feel very positive about myself and my sexuality. I am happy to be photographed naked. But despite all that I’ve achieved, there’s still a vulnerable person lurking inside, with a tremendous need for love.’
